I am worried about congestion charges and tolls

Depending on where you live and where your baby is being cared for in hospital, you may find you are regularly needing to pay congestion charges and tolls. This can add an extra cost which you might not have thought about. Find out more below.

Or take a step back to explore other travel and parking issues.

How can I save money on congestion charges and tolls?

It’s worth checking if you’re eligible for any discounts or if setting up an account to pay in advance can save you money. For example, for the London Congestion Charge there is a 90% discount for residents living in the congestion charge zone and Blue Badge holders are eligible for 100% discount.

What else can I do?

You could try alternating between driving and taking public transport if there are cheaper options available for you. Take a look at our information on public transport for some suggestions on how to save money if this is an option for you.

Although it may increase the time of your travel, it may be that you could take a longer route on some days and the quicker more expensive route on other days.

You can usually set your sat nav or mobile app to avoid tolls and congestion charges. This will provide you with alternative routes. If you are using an mobile app, be careful to make sure you don't exceed your phone data plan as this could cost you more than expected.

We understand these are not ideal solutions and that it can feel quite frustrating to have to pay tolls and charges. We’re here for you if you need more help or support. You can reach us by following the link below.
